Module 1 — Earn Money: Paychecks, W-2s, W-4s and Withholding
Correctly understand your W-2 and W-4
W-2: Your employer reports wages and taxes already withheld. Review your name, Social Security number, wages, federal withholding, Social Security wages/tax, Medicare wages/tax, state wages, and state withholding before filing.
W-4: You give this form to your employer to estimate federal income-tax withholding. Complete filing status, multiple-jobs information when applicable, dependents and credits, other income, deductions, and any extra withholding accurately.
A large refund often means more tax was withheld than necessary during the year. Adjusting withholding may increase take-home pay now, but too little withholding can produce a tax bill or penalty. Use the current IRS Tax Withholding Estimator and update your W-4 after major life or income changes.

Module 2 — Control Money: Budgeting, Banking and Cash Flow
Turn income into a working monthly plan
Use the personal Budget Planner to separate income, fixed expenses, variable expenses, debt payments, savings, and discretionary spending. Compare planned and actual amounts every month rather than waiting until money is gone.
Build an emergency reserve gradually, automate essential payments, review account fees, and keep personal and business funds separate.
Module 3 — Build Credit: Reports, Disputes, Cleanup and Growth
Pull and compare all three credit reports
Use the federally authorized source to request reports from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Compare personal information, account status, balances, payment history, collections, inquiries, and public-record information because the bureaus may not show identical data.
Dispute inaccurate or incomplete information
Identify the exact item, gather supporting documents, dispute with the credit bureau and/or information furnisher, keep copies, record dates, and track responses. Dispute only information you genuinely believe is inaccurate or incomplete; accurate negative information generally cannot be removed merely because it is unfavorable.
Credit-building techniques
Pay every account on time, keep revolving utilization low, avoid unnecessary applications, maintain older accounts when practical, monitor reports, and consider a secured card or credit-builder loan when appropriate. Authorized-user status may help only when the primary account is managed responsibly and the issuer reports it.
Module 4 — Eliminate Debt: Collections, Validation and Payoff Strategy
When a debt is sold or assigned
A debt may be assigned to a collector or sold to a debt buyer. Selling a debt does not automatically erase it, and it does not always mean you still pay the original company. The key question is who currently owns the debt or has legal authority to collect it.
Before paying an unfamiliar collector, verify the collector's identity, request validation when available, compare the claimed balance with your records, and keep all communications. Never provide sensitive banking information until the party and debt are verified.
Dispute versus debt validation
A credit-report dispute challenges inaccurate reporting. A debt-validation request asks a collector for information supporting the debt and its authority to collect. These are related but different processes.
Snowball and avalanche payoff methods
Snowball prioritizes the smallest balance for quick wins. Avalanche prioritizes the highest interest rate to reduce total interest. Use the Debt Crash Planner to choose the method that best fits your finances and motivation.
Module 5 — Own a Business: Deductions and Business Foundations
W-2 employee versus business owner tax treatment
A W-2 employee generally has wages with payroll withholding and may have limited federal deductions for unreimbursed employee expenses under current law. A legitimate business owner reports business income and may deduct ordinary and necessary expenses allowed by tax law, which can reduce net business income and therefore taxable income.
Potential categories can include qualified advertising, supplies, software, professional fees, business insurance, mileage or vehicle expenses, equipment, business-use phone/internet, and a qualified home office. Personal expenses are not deductible simply because someone owns a business, and good records are essential.
Business-owner responsibilities
Deductions do not make purchases free. They reduce taxable income, not necessarily tax dollar-for-dollar. Business owners may also owe self-employment tax, make estimated payments, issue information returns, maintain licenses, and separate business records and accounts.
Module 6 — Build Wealth: Prepare for Silver
Use the foundation you built
Complete your budget, review all three credit reports, create a debt strategy, understand your withholding, finish the LLC checklist, and create a business budget and offer. These actions prepare you for Silver-level business launch and growth tools.
